Assisi
Assisi is a beautiful town in the Perugia Province of Italy which boasts breathtaking views overlooking the Umbrian Valley. Roman ruins, winding medieval streets and sacred shrines all contribute to ensuring that Assisi is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Italy.
Assisi is famous for being the birthplace of Saint Francis, Patron Saint of Italy who founded the Franciscan Religious Order and Saint Clare the founder of the order of Poor Clare’s.
What will I see when I visit:
- Visit the tomb of Saint Francis.
- Basilica di San Francesco- world heritage site which is filled with beautiful frescos detailing Saint Francis’ life.
- Basilica di Santa Chiara- final resting place of Saint Clare.
